A RoundWith Sphere –a loving homage to Thelonious Sphere Monk.
Phoebe– for trombonist/composer Homer Lambrecht, a dear friend whose music hashad a huge impact on us.
Phrenology– how could something so goofy have been influential?
Chance,Love, Logic - painter RobertMotherwell posited that these are the immutable components of life.
Orange– for artist Steve Richards. Steve and I were talking about the way in which Mark RothkoÕs contrastof colors and sense of balance ÒworksÓ not long before I wrote this.
SuddenDeep Green of Summer - when winter lasts until summer begins.
Liner– this had to do with me wanting to balance phrases of contrastingshapes. It also has something todo with the year 1988, when Kirby Puckett batted .356.
TheCloisters – a place of spiritual seclusion. To my daughter Chloe Moriarty, seeker of such places.
